ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Cocoons
spring/summer 2019
I asked myself: what’s something that I find beautiful, but other people don’t? The first answer that I could think of were insects, but what defines an insect?
According to Manakki Whenua insects are animals belonging to the class known as Insecta. Their bodies are divided into three sections: head, thorax, and abdomen. They have six legs attached to the chest. It didn’t take long until I immersed myself into beautiful pictures of insects. I found many interesting things throughout my research, but insect eggs was the topic that attracted me the most. I thought they were so cute and unique that I decided to dedicate my concept research to them.
They have different shapes, sizes, and colors: yellow, white, brown, red, gray and black. I feel that they are somehow strong and simple, but also light.
In conclusion, I love the idea that this eggs help to create life itself and that every living creature comes from an environment that is loving and nutritious.
